Security deposits are standard in the car rental industry and help cover potential traffic fines, Salik toll charges, or damages that may occur during the rental period. Deposits are held directly by the rental company. Some vehicles on Shazza are also available without a security deposit. In these cases, a nonrefundable fee is paid instead while maintaining the same coverage and protection.

Security deposits are released after 21 working days following the end of the rental period. This allows time for any traffic fines, Salik toll charges, or other applicable fees to be reported.

Residents must present a valid UAE driving license and Emirates ID. Tourists must present a passport and a valid driving license from their home country. Depending on the country where the license was issued, an International Driving Permit (IDP) may also be required. Salik toll charges and any traffic fines incurred during the rental period are the responsibility of the renter.
