Where to find free parking in Dubai

Yes! It is possible to find free parking in Dubai! It’s actually a lot simpler than you think. Dubai is made for cars: the landscapes, the roads, the highway systems, clear signage and multi-storey car parks are all designed for different types of vehicles to move around the city with ease. We are going to give you some tips and tricks on how to find the best free parking spots around the city.

It’s definitely also worth noting that parking is now free everywhere on Sundays and on public holidays such as:

  • 1 January: New Year

  • 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal: Eid Al Fitr

  • 9 Zul Hijjah: Arafah Day

  • 10,11,12 Zul Hijjah: Eid Al Adha

  • 30 July: Islamic New Year

  • 8 October: Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) birthday

  • 1 December: Commemoration Day

  • 2 and 3 December: UAE National Day

Where to find free parking:

Sandlots Although Dubai has developed exceptionally, not every inch of land was used for a modern apartment tower or our exciting malls. There are many unused sandlots throughout the city - keep an eye out for them!

Malls Most shopping malls in Dubai city offer at least a few hours of free parking, if not all day free parking. Just make sure you check the prices when you park.

Parking garages There are several parking garages in the city center that offer free parking, both temporarily or permanently. Dubai Opera Green Parking Garage offers free parking that is not far from the Burj Khalifa. Al Marsa Parking is also free, allowing you to visit Dubai Old City for as long as you want. Another underground parking spot is Marina Parking in Dubai Creek Harbor. It’s a more remote area away from the center, but is a great location for a nice walk, dining and skyline views.

Residential neighborhoods Almost impossible to find in Dubai City Center, but there are some residential areas away from downtown that are close to interesting sites in the city. You need to avoid parking in areas with signs like ‘private access’ or ‘residents only’, but general parking on the streets is not a problem.

On-street parking This one is rather hard to find - but it does exist. There are a lot of on-street parking spots and they always have clear markings. If you must pay to park there, you will see a sign mentioning that. Most paid street parking is free between the hours of 10pm - 8am. You can find on-street parking free at Lamer Beach or Kite Beach.
