The summer heat in Dubai can be especially harsh even if you’ve been here many years. It takes a toll on everything, and our cars are no different.
You know you have to stay indoors and keep yourself hydrated, but what about your car?
Shazza has these quick tips to keep your car cool in the Dubai summer!
Get a steering wheel cover - it gets hot no matter what time of day it is!
Park in shaded areas whenever possible.
If you have to park in direct sunlight, try to park facing east so that the car is shaded in the morning and afternoon.
Check your air filters and keep your engine fluids topped up.
Check your cooling system and the AC - can’t stress this enough!
Leave your car windows slightly open when parked off.
If your car doesn’t have tinted windows, get that sorted pronto!
If you have leather seats, consider getting seat covers that will help reflect heat.
If you're leaving Dubai for the summer (or if you’re not going to drive your car for an extended period of time) find an indoor parking spot and cover your car to protect it from dust.
Wind the window all the way down and turn on the AC when you get in the car.
Or if you’re lucky to have a remote start, use it to pre-cool your car before you get in - obviously!
It's also important to not leave certain items in your car when parked outside, such as lighters, batteries, anything that is flammable or pressurised, or anything with lithium-ion. And don’t forget any food and drinks either!
Avoid driving during the hottest part of the day, if possible. But sometimes, you just gotta get out and drive, right?!
We trust you’ll be keeping extra cool this summer and wish you many miles of chilled out beats and an extra chilly AC!
